Microsoft New Search Engine “Bing” is a Gateway to Porn

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

Microsoft released its new search engine Bing recently to complete with Google. The difference between Bing and Google is that Bing has a motion feature that allows the user to move a cursor over a video for a brief snippet. Once a user turns off the adult content filter on the site, there is open access to porn sites and sex videos. Spy Parent checked out the security of the site by searching for the infamous  Superhead Mr. Marcus Sex Tape. Within seconds, the video appeared and the search engine allowed full view of the video unlike google.

This is a huge problems for teens once they find out this bug within the Bing system. Microsoft has already released a statement stating that users can filter the search engine. They also stated that it is up to parents to monitor their teen’s internet use. Spy Parent has evidence that Cybersiter and the Snoop Stick have the cabailities to block Bing searches. You can find these products on the computer surveillance page.

New Alert: Google Videos allows access to porn

Friday, February 20th, 2009

Spy Parents need to monitor Google Videos on a daily basis. Teenagers can pull up any type of videos by using Google’s video search feature. For example, a youth types in the word porn in the search box. All social video websites such as YouTube will be uploaded for review. Youtube does a great job filtering their site so teenagers are not going to view much outside of underwear. The problem is other social video sites such as Daily Motion that  have a one step access system. If you push the icon on the site for 18 or older, then you have access to the adult videos.  There is a bug within Google Videos that allow you to see all videos regardless if they are appropriate or inappropriate for teens.

Some parents make the argument that teens looking at sexual videos is no different than teens going online to view porn sites. The problem is there is a big difference between pictures and videos. Showing full length or short length porn videos lead to a greater chance of addiction and the possibility of your teen utilizing your credit card to become a member with unlimited access.

Spy Parent recommends installing monitoring software on your teens computers. Spy Parents offer several affordable products less than 50 dollars.

Cyber Criminals Stealing from Teenagers

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

Criminals are using Myspace and Facebook to steal from your children. The latest crime is criminals pretending to be your child’s friends. Most social websites have “Friend lists” that allows one to add friends across the web. Criminals are hacking into social websites and posing as your child friend to receive money.

The most common scenario is a criminal asking your child for a small amount of money. Cyber criminals will ask for 100 to 200 dollars in order to pay for a bill or help out a family member. Teenagers have been willing to give personal bank information thinking that the person behind the computer is actually someone on their friend list.

It is important to teach your children to never give out personal and financial information on the web. Criminals are preying on teenagers and young adults.

Net Alert: Google Street View has to go

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

Google Street  View allows anyone to type in your address and receive satellite images of your house and neighborhood. This information is frightening in the hands of teenagers.  For example, your child gets into a fight with another student and later finds out that child is a member of a gang. The gang members searches your address on Google Street View and rides out to your house to finish the business. Google Street View will get them there with satellite imagery.

You can contact Google to see if you can have shots of your house and street removed from their system. It is also important that your teenagers never place personal addresses on social websites for easy access.

Net Alert: Massage Services on Social Websites are fronts for Prostitution

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

Hong Kong native is being held in St. Louis in connection with what authorities believe is an international prostitution ring.

Federal court documents say the ring used free newspaper and popular Internet sites to advertise massage services that were really a front for prostitution, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Wednesday.

Maco Chor Sing Yeung, 51, of Hong Kong, appeared in court recently on a single felony count of inducing an alien to reside in the United States in violation of the law.

Prosecutors want him held until trial, suggesting he is a flight risk, the Post-Dispatch said.

Authorities say Yeung was paying for hotel rooms for women who advertised massage services.

Yeung has denied being involved with prostitution but admits renting rooms for five women in the St. Louis and Chicago areas.

He said he was helping the women because they didn’t speak English, the newspaper said.
